Pre-CMA Fest Nashville: What to Do Before the Festival Starts

CMA Fest 2026 runs June 4-7 — four days of sold-out stadium shows, Fan Fair X, free Riverfront Stages, and Broadway packed shoulder-to-shoulder from noon to 2 a.m. If you're flying in for the festival, the smart move is to arrive a few days early.

Pre-CMA Fest Nashville (May 28-June 3) is one of the city's best windows. The energy is building, the city's event calendar is loaded, and the crowds haven't peaked yet. Here's how to use the pre-festival days to set up the actual festival days for success.

Why Arrive Early

The math is simple. CMA Fest weekend itself is grueling — 4 days of stadium shows, festival walking, Broadway crowds, and Tennessee summer heat. Most groups underestimate the recovery cost and end up with 1-2 people in 'I need to lay down' mode by Saturday afternoon.

Arriving 2-3 days early means: cheaper Airbnb rates for those weeknights, less crowded versions of every Nashville must-do, restaurant reservations are actually available, you can pace yourself for the actual festival, and you can have your rental fully set up and stocked before chaos hits.

May 28 - June 3: Smart Things to Do

Hit the Country Music Hall of Fame Wednesday or Thursday morning. By festival weekend, the wait is 90+ minutes. Mid-week pre-CMA you'll walk in. Grand Ole Opry: book a Tuesday or Wednesday show. The Opry is currently celebrating its 100th anniversary throughout 2026 with an expanded show calendar — easier to get tickets for the smaller mid-week shows than the festival weekend ones.

Bridgestone Arena and the Ryman Auditorium typically have additional touring acts in the pre-festival week to capitalize on early arrivers. Check both calendars for sleeper shows.

Nashville Sounds (AAA baseball) typically has a homestand at First Horizon Park during this week. Cheap, low-pressure, gets you out of the Broadway crush, and First Horizon Park has solid food and drinks.

Tennessee Whiskey Trail tours, distillery visits to Nelson's Green Brier, brunch reservations at top spots like Henrietta Red or Husk — all dramatically easier to book Tuesday-Thursday than Friday-Sunday.

How to Stage the Rental for Festival Weekend

Festival weekend is when you don't want to be running errands. The rental should be fully set up before Friday afternoon. Pre-CMA week is the buffer.

Drop-off setup should be complete by Wednesday night: drinks stocked, beverage station ready, recovery kits in the kitchen, photo and decor amenities up, group activities (cornhole, beer pong, party games) staged in the yard or living room.

A Pre-Game Setup with Bar Essentials, a Coffee Bar, and Broadway Recovery Kits handle the three highest-traffic areas of festival weekend logistics. Set them up Wednesday and they hold for the entire trip.

The Festival-Day Survival Setup

CMA Fest is hot, long, and loud. June Nashville averages 86°F and 70%+ humidity. Festival days run 11 a.m. - 11 p.m.+ between Riverfront Stages, Fan Fair, and Nissan Stadium night shows.

What you want at the rental for the in-between hours: an Inflatable Hot Tub or Cold Plunge for body recovery, a Misting Fan running on the patio, Hot Weather Comfort kits with cooling towels and electrolytes, and a Sleep & Relaxation kit (white noise machine, blackout masks, ear plugs) so the crashes between shows are real recovery and not just collapsing on a couch.

Broadway During CMA Fest: A Different Animal

Broadway during CMA Fest is the most-crowded version of itself. The line at Tootsies is the line for everywhere. Cover charges appear at bars that don't normally have them. Drinks run 30% more expensive than on a regular weekend.

The pre-CMA week is when to do your Broadway visits if you want the 'normal Nashville' experience. Save festival weekend for the actual festival shows and Broadway-adjacent events.

What to Book Now if You Haven't Already

Stadium shows: typically released 6+ months out. Saturday night is usually the most expensive single ticket. Sunday is usually the cheapest. Check resale markets the Tuesday before festival — prices often drop in the final 72 hours.

Restaurant reservations for festival weekend: book 4-6 weeks out at minimum. Pre-festival weeknights are far easier.

Rental amenities for festival weekend: should be locked in 2-3 weeks ahead. Inventory is finite during festival weekends.

Putting It Together

Pre-CMA Fest Nashville is one of the best windows of the year. Lower prices, easier reservations, less crowded versions of all the must-dos, and a buffer to set up the actual festival weekend without scrambling.

Music City Weekend Co. handles full rental amenity setups for CMA Fest groups — drop-off as early as Wednesday, pickup the Monday after. Browse the full catalog or send us your festival dates and group size and we'll build out a custom CMA Fest package.
